Top Engineering Videos – GoldieBlox

GoldieBlox is technically a toy company – but its mission is to empower girls to change the world through engineering. The company came to fame after its 2020 construction kit/storybook raised a staggering $1 million in one month.

Today GoldieBlox kits sell across the world and its Youtube channel has racked up nearly 700,000 subscribers.

GoldieBlox was founded by Debbie Sterling, a Stanford engineering graduate and entrepreneur who was horrified that that the percentage of women in engineering in the United States was only 11%.

Sterling wanted to understand why the numbers were so low and her research found that girls begin to lose interest in math and science as young as age 8.

She spent two years studying early child development, including girls and the gender marketing of toys, and realising that most girls excel in verbal skills, reading and writing that she could combine the story of Goldie, a girl inventor who loves to build, with a construction kit to keep them engaged.

The Youtube channel not only supports the companies products but showcases a range of fun science experiments, interesting maths problems, and a host other Youtube guest presenters.
