Volkswagen is planning to create a brand new all electric van inspired by its iconic camper.
The new microbus call will make its debut next January after VM (claims – and we believe them!) it was inundated with requests to “please build this car”, with the new model set to hit the roads in 2022. It might not beat the Thrust SSC world speed record with its leisurely pace but it certainly looks fantastic.
The van will be called the ID Buzz and will be aimed at customers in North America, Europe and China. At the moment VW only plans to produce the Kombi as a van and says no plans exist for a camper version.
However, keep in mind that many of the iconic VW Camper vans were never official productions, but modified out by their owners convert them into campers.
We are not ruling out a new generation of VW hippy vans just yet!
