A new digital navigation system for the visually impaired is being trialed at Euston underground station. The project is a collaboration between the youth forum of the Royal London Society for Blind People and the digital studio ustwo.

The system works by delivering audio instructions via a smartphone app, using a network of Bluetooth beacons to guide people to their platform or to the exit. London Underground has backed Wayfindr since the early stage of development and it was first trialed at Pimlico station. After being successful there, the product’s designer was keen to trial it on a larger, more challenging scale.
