Non-exploding lithium-ion batteries developed

A team of scientists from Stanford University in the US have announced a new design for a lithium-ion battery, believed by them to be less likely to explode. Due to their chemistry, common lithium-ion batteries are liable to explode when overheated, overcharged or receive punctures. The researchers hope the new batteries will overcome these major shortcomings of the traditional designs.
