UK lacking in female engineers

According to the Women’s Engineering Society, in 2014 women made up only 6% of all UK engineers, meaning the UK is lagging compared to the rest of Europe. This has been attributed to a lack of girls studying STEM subjects in schools and not enough female engineering faculty members in universities.
