Leading the race to build a supercomputer

The race is on to build the world’s first practical quantum supercomputer, capable of processing data far faster than it would take today’s computers.

Teams of mathematicians, engineers and physicists are using aluminium, diamond and caesium, among other substances to help determine which particles would best help maintain a “delicate quantum state of superposition”.

A team of researchers from the University of New South Wales in Australia have made significant advances in the race to build the supercomputer.
