UK and Canada agree deal for waste uranium and plutonium

The Canadian government has agreed a deal to reuse uranium and plutonium from nuclear reactors in the UK, which will be used to create mixed oxide (MOX) pellets to generate low-carbon electricity. Candu Energy, the Canadian company behind the proposal, is the preferred option for the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA), as it attempts to manage its stockpiles of the waste material.
