Physicists find rapid heating method

Research conducted by theoretical physicists from Imperial College London have found a way to rapidly heat materials to temperatures hotter than the center of the Sun by using lasers.

The lasers have the potential to heat materials to ten million degrees in shorter than a million millionth of a second. The discovery could hugely benefit other scientists conducting fusion research. It is the first time a method such as this has been proposed and it opens up new areas for others trying to replicate clean energy produced by the Sun.
