New technology can detect suspect luggage

A new system, developed by researchers at Germany’s Fraunhofer Institute for High Frequency Physics and Radar Techniques (FHR), possesses 3D imaging technology that can help to assess the dangers of suspicious packages – including possible suitcase bombs. A variety of tools are used to record 3D images of the shape and contents of the luggage and the FHR team hopes to begin field-testing the technology in 2017.
