Aircraft manufacturers use augmented reality to make assembly quicker and more accurate

Augmented reality is beginning to revolutionise the area of aircraft manufacturing. The manufacturers of the Airbus A350 have begun using augmented reality software on handheld tablets, which can be used to view the aircraft through the tablet’s camera with its schematics superimposed. Airbus have also used video projection tools in order to superimpose virtual information onto the aircraft’s structure itself. The company hopes to begin using augmented reality headsets in the manufacturing process within two to three years.
