UK granted permission to commence gene editing

The fertility regulator has granted permission for UK scientists to carry out research in human embryo gene editing – with the UK being the first nation to be allowed to do so. The research will be carried out at the Francis Crick Institute in London, although scientists will still be banned from implanting the modified embryos into a woman.
