First tests for autonomous weed-destroying robot

Tests are being held in a field in Yorkshire for a new robot which will be able to traverse difficult terrain and autonomously detect and destroy weeds. The IBEX project is testing two prototypes of the robot, which is capable of identifying and destroying different types of weeds and can travel on slopes of up to 45 degrees through mud and vegetation. The robot could act as a labour-saving device for farmers as well as eliminating the need for environmentally-damaging bulk herbicide spraying.
