End of the track for Isle of Wights last rollercoaster

“The Cliffhanger”, the Isle of Wight’s last rollercoaster closes next week.

The Isle of Wight was once one of the UK top tourist destinations and known for its theme parks.

As times have changed the Island has undergone many changes and has only a handful of attractions left. Blackgang Chine theme park is one of its best-known and revealed The Cliffhanger back in 2005.

The Cliffhanger was famous for the stunning views at the top of the initial climb as riders would be able to out across the sea towards The Needles.

However, all isn’t as dire as it seems. Blackgang Chine theme park are aiming to replace the ride in 2023 with, what they are pitching as a UK-exclusive state-of-the-art ride. Until then the island is left with a single ‘coaster style ride’ in Shanklin that is only for use by young children.
