Universities Minister Jo Johnson has announced that the UK Government will provide £167 million in funding to help train PhD students in engineering and physical sciences, as well as investing £37 million in the National Quantum Technologies Programme. The funding will help around 2000 PhD students at 40 universities, and will also provide new equipment and researcher training at quantum institutions. Johnson said: “This new funding builds on our protection for science spending by supporting research in our world-leading universities and helping to train the science leaders of tomorrow.”
