Salford University project hopes to create extremely efficient solar cells

Researchers at Salford University have begun a €5 million project to develop perovskite photovoltaic cells, a novel material choice which could lead to highly efficient solar power generation accompanied by low manufacturing costs. “It is essential to continually improve the attractiveness of solar as a renewable energy source,” said Dr Heather Yates, principal investigator for the project. “Perovskite photovoltaic technology can be an important step in this direction and the team at Salford University are looking forward to sharing our findings with our academic and industrial partners.”
