The Boring Company – Elon Musk’s tunnel project – has received government approval to start building underground in Washington DC.

Washington, DC’s Department of Transportation issued a preliminary permit that would allow the company to start digging in the northeast of the US capital.

However, both the permit and the companies plan to create an underground hyperloop between Washington DC and New York remain vague.

No details on how deep the company would dig or for how long have been revealed.

In an article published by the Washington Post, city planners explained they were “upbeat but noncommittal” to the companies plan.

The company is already in the process of digging a two-mile test tunnel below the Californian HQ of Space X and is looking to create an additional 7 miles proof of concept tunnel below Los Angeles.
