A graphene based microphone, which is almost 32 times more sensitive than those of standard nickel construction, has been developed by scientists in Serbia. Researchers from the University of Belgrade have created a vibrating membrane from graphene.

The membrane is what converts the microphone’s sound to a current. The researchers found that by creating it from graphene, the sensitivity was 15db higher compared to the 11kHz which is the frequency of a commercial microphone.
