Biomedical engineering

Professor Eleanor Stride is a biomedical engineer at the University of Oxford. She develops new ways of delivering chemotherapy drugs.

Her work uses tiny bubbles, called microbubbles, that can be injected into a cancer patient’s bloodstream. They are guided to the cancer with magnets, then burst with ultrasound to release the drugs where they are needed. The approach could spare the healthy cells that today’s treatments damage.

In this interview, Eleanor talks about her own route into engineering.
