Plug-in cars grow to record sales in the UK

According to the SMMT, demand for plug-in vehicles has reached record levels. More than 20,992 motorists bought a plug-in car during the first nine months of this year, a rise of 138.5% against last year’s figures. This includes both electric cars and plug-in vehicles. However, the biggest area of growth is in plug-in hybrids with 14,041 new registrations this year, which is a growth of 226.5% on 2014.
