New energy management system at Ford could power a small city

Ford factories in Europe are expected to show a 25% reduction in energy usage per vehicle produced since 2011.

This means that Ford will make annual savings of around 800 gigawatt hours at its European plants. This is similar to the annual use of energy by cities with a population of around 170,000, such as Oxford. These savings are as a result of £20m worth of investments which are specifically targeted at energy waste.
