New innovation challenge sets its sights on avocados in Peru.

Social Solver launches a new innovation challenge to improve the efficiency of avocado crop production in Peru.

This new challenge aims to help rural families in El Valle del Jequetepeque (Perú) where Ayuda en Acción works to strengthen and modernise their productive capacity. High-tech agriculture offers better yields and higher profitability.

Currently, avocado cultivation is carried out in small-scale family farms. The challenge is now looking for digital solutions to increase production, profitability, quality and optimising inputs.

The winner will bag themselves EUR 5,000 and possibility to participate in the realisation of a pilot project together with Ayuda en Acción in Peru.

Social Solver was born to improve the quality of life of vulnerable communities through technology, and in 2021 has developed projects in Honduras, Mexico and Colombia. It was founded by the NGO Ayuda en Acción and the open innovation platform ennomotive, challenges engineers around the world to digitise and monitor avocado production technology.

Its ultimate goal is to revolutionise the impact on development cooperation projects using digitisation, open innovation and engineering.

So far the company has developed an innovation project in fish conservation for the Mamugah community in Honduras, a plastic collection and recycling project in Chacahua, Mexico, and two other projects in Colombia for sustainable rice and cocoa production.
