This is the official channel of NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory. Since its launch on 23 July 1999, Chandra has been NASA’s flagship mission for X-ray astronomy and one of its Great Observatories.

Most videos are short narrated tours of new images and results. They cover black holes, supernova remnants, galaxies and other high energy objects that shine brightly in X-rays. Each tour explains what the telescope saw and why it matters. There are also quick look clips and 3D models of cosmic objects. The videos are short, so they are easy to fit into a lesson or a break, and they suit younger learners too.

Some highlights include:

A tour of new 3D models of cosmic objects, built from Chandra data.

Chandra X-ray Observatory has over 51,000 subscribers.

Chandra is a piece of engineering as well as a science mission. It is a telescope that has worked in orbit for more than 25 years, using precisely shaped mirrors to focus X-rays. These videos are a good way into space science and astrophysics, and into the engineering of instruments, optics and spacecraft that make such discoveries possible.
