Described as “the closest twin to earth”, the new exoplanet has been named Kepler 452b. It is considered habitable for life by scientists because of its rocky terrain and the star it orbits, which is very similar to our own Sun. However, the planet has five times the mass of our own earth, and is thought to be considerably older. Also found were 11 other smaller possible exoplanets, which are located in habitable zones but need to be examined further.
