US University develops process to make waste packaging into battery electrodes

Researchers from Purdue University in the US have developed a process which will allow for the recycling of foam chips – or “packaging peanuts” – used previously to safely cushion products into carbon electrodes for lithium-ion batteries that are rechargeable.
