SciShow Space is a sister channel of SciShow, focused on astronomy and space exploration. New uploads stopped in 2024, with space stories now appearing on the main SciShow channel, but the archive remains a good resource.

Most videos are short, around five to seven minutes, and explain one discovery or question. Topics run from black holes and distant stars to the moons of Mars and new space telescopes. The hosts explain the science clearly and point to the research behind each story. There are also longer compilations on single themes.

Some highlights include:

This video explains the first full colour images from the James Webb Space Telescope and what each one shows.

Top Engineering Videos: SciShow Space

This one tells the story of the liquid mirror telescope, an idea from the 1850s that engineers have finally made useful.

The channel has over 1.4 million subscribers.

The UK space sector employs engineers in satellite design, telescopes, instruments and mission planning. SciShow Space shows the kind of questions those teams help answer. The telescope videos are a good way into optical and aerospace engineering for students who love astronomy. Because most videos are short, they also work well as a quick starter in a science lesson. The James Webb videos are a good example of how engineering made new discoveries possible.
