Battery technology research centre opens in Warwick

Business Secretary Sajid Javid has opened an Energy Innovation Centre (EIC) at Warwick University, a move which will further research into battery cell technology. The £13 million facility is capable of developing chemistries for new batteries, and also boasts testing chambers and a test facility for electric and hybrid vehicles.

The EIC will focus on electric and hybrid vehicle battery research, seeking to develop cheaper, more efficient and safer batteries for this important and growing market.
