Water filtration system wins Africa Prize for Engineering

Dr Askwar Hilonga is the first winner of the £25,000 Africa Prize for Engineering with a sand-based water filtration system that uses nanotechnology to absorb contamination. The nanofilter is able to absorb heavy metals and minerals and will be put to use within a year, potentially saving thousands of lives.
