University of York Year 10/11 STEM work experience (June to July 2027)

A five-day in-person STEM work experience week at the University of York for Year 10 and 11 students, spending time across eight areas including Engineering, Physics and Computer Science. Students attend lectures, tour research laboratories, do experimental work and meet undergraduates. It is not residential, so students travel from home each day.

University of York Year 12 work experience: physics and engineering (July 2027)

Work experienceUniversity of York School of Physics, Engineering and Technology

A hybrid work experience week for Year 12 students at the University of York, with four online days of lectures and a supervised research poster project and one day on campus. Students can focus on physics, engineering or a mix of both, and the programme is open to anyone in the UK. Places are limited and allocated on written responses and widening participation criteria.

A certificate of recognition from the University of York that can be referred to on a UCAS form, a supervised research poster project and a hands-on day on campus. Travel bursaries may be available to those meeting the access criteria.
